How I Met Your Mother is an American comedy tv series premiered on CBS on September 19, 2005. Created by Craig Thomas and Carter Bays, How I Met Your Mother is a comedy about Ted (Josh Radnor) and how he fell in love. As a framing device, the main character, Ted Mosby, in the year 2030 recounts to his son and daughter the events that led to his meeting their mother, which explains the title and allows for a narration in the past tense. How I Met Your Mother's other main characters are Marshall Eriksen (Jason Segel), Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders), Barney Stinson, and Lily Aldrin (Alyson Hannigan).

The main action took place in "the present," after the twenty something Ted decided to take upon himself a bride after the unexpected engagement of his friend Marshall to the lovely Lily Ted had his sights set on a girl named Robin but there was no guarantee that she would ultimately be the "mother" of the title, not as long as Mike allowed himself to be immersed in the what-the-hell lifestyle of the early 21st century. Providing snide sidelines comments (and most of the laughs) was Ted's know-it-all best pal, Barney (Neil Patrick Harris). - How I Met Your Mother -
