Kate Garry Hudson is an American film actress. She was born in Los Angeles on April 19, 1979. Kate bears more than a passing resemblance to her famous actress mother Goldie Hawn, in both looks and onscreen vivacity. Her father is singer and comedian Bill Hudson of the Hudson Brothers. Kate’s breakthrough movie was the 2000 rock 'n roll memoir Almost Famous which she played Penny Lane, the groupie with a heart of gold. She received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress for this film and that catapulted Kate to instant stardom.
